1. The Person of the Holy Spirit

Oct 18, 2023

Spirit. What is it? A dictionary definition is “The nonphysical part of a person which is the seat of emotions and character; the soul”. “In philosophy and religion, spirit is the vital principle or animating essence within humans or, in some views, all living things.”

Your spirit speaks of the same inner life in relation to God: your faith, hope, love, character, and perseverance. The Bible tells us that there are seven Spirits of God. “And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.”

Our study here investigates the “Mystery of the Holy Spirit”. Clear your mind and dive in for an enlightening journey into this mystery!

Quote:

You might as well try to hear without ears or breathe without lungs, as try to live a Christian life without the Spirit of God in your heart. ― D. L. Moody

Dwight L. Moody the renown evangelist quote above tells us several things worthy of noting but in particular it indicates that the Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit are one and the same. You may have heard the name Holy Ghost to reference the Spirit of God, who is indeed part of the triune godhead and that He is just as much God as the Father and the Son.

Still, the name Holy Spirit holds intrigue thus the mystery of the name. The Bible refers to the Spirit in many versus and in differing terms adding to the mystery. So, can the Holy Spirit be explained?

If we know where to look the Holy Spirit can indeed be explained. But to have an understanding of what is explained you must be a believer else you will not understand these things.

Hyperlinks may take the reader to the referenced Bible verse as found in the NLT translation of the Bible. This was done for uniformity of the Christian Karate Club Bible curriculum. It is intentional that students have access to differing Bible translations so that a complete understanding of the Word can be achieved.
